Outcomes Siyakholwa Development Foundation aims for or reports (5)
  • In Round 3, we had 760 participants in ECD, and the impact is clear and significant Because of the [the programme] stipend, we currently have one of the highest retention rate of ECD facilitators in the Smart Start Network.

Reported by the partner · Round 3 · Siyakholwa Development Foundation close-out report, Round 3

  • Indeed we have seen a marked increase in the number of children in our programs because facilitators have increased capacity to enroll more children in their programs

Reported by the partner · Round 3 · Siyakholwa Development Foundation close-out report, Round 3

  • After two years of piloting, we now have an MOU with the Department of Health who are impressed by the work that our mentor moms have been doing in communities. In Round 3, the Department of Health trained our mentor moms on nutrition and linked them with clinics to make it easier for the mentor moms to recruit more pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Reported by the partner · Round 3 · Siyakholwa Development Foundation close-out report, Round 3

  • Through our partnership with an ECD organisation called Khululeka, we were able to train participants in how to make jungle gyms, slides, and other play equipment. The project became so successful that we reached and exceeded our target in Round 3.

Reported by the partner · Round 3 · Siyakholwa Development Foundation close-out report, Round 3

  • We have achieved several milestones in the incubator. All the land clearaing, planting and maintenance as well as training of participants was achieved in Round 3. Our first harvest was in May and already we have exceeded our target of out per 250 square metres. Our participants have agreed to continue in the project even though the [the programme] program has ended. However, we did not expect a low retention rate that we experienced in the incubator.
